Caste by Isabel Wilkerson

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a huge fan of nonfiction. It's not my "go to" genre. When I do read it, I find myself skimming and scanning for the stories within the overall story. The examples, if you will, that present the person in their full glory. This book was suggested as a continuing piece for a "race inequality in the classroom" discussion I had been a part of. I was driving 11 hours each way to visit my daughter in college, so I decided to subscribe to Audible for the free month trial and downloaded the book. It was the fastest 22 hours of driving I had ever done!

This book reads like a novel, ripe with stories that will tear your heart open. I know I said I wasn't going to use this section of my website to give my opinion on a book, but I'm breaking the rule for this one.

READ IT (or listen to it)!
